Getting Started
2 min read
DescriptionSet up your first Sidian site in under five minutes.
1. Create an account
Go to sidian.app and sign in with your email. You'll receive a magic link — no password needed.
2. Create a site
From your dashboard, click New site and fill in:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Displayed as the site title |
| Slug | URL-safe identifier — your site lives at sidian.app/s/your-slug |
| Password | Optional — leave blank for a public site |
3. Install the plugin
Install the Sidian plugin in Obsidian and connect it to your site. See Plugin/Installation for step-by-step instructions.
4. Sync your vault
Once the plugin is connected, it syncs automatically on every save. Open any note in Obsidian, make a change, and it appears on your site within seconds.
5. Publish
New sites start as Draft — they're not visible to anyone yet. When you're ready, click Publish site in your dashboard.
Drafts are private
A draft site returns 404 to all visitors, including you. Use the dashboard to preview file content before publishing.
Next steps
- Plugin/Syncing — understand how sync works across devices
- Access Control/Passwords — restrict access at the site, folder, or note level
- Appearance/Branding & Theming — add a logo, accent colour, and custom CSS
- Custom Domains — serve your site from your own domain
