Publishing
Draft vs Published
Every site starts as a Draft. Draft sites return 404 to all visitors — the URL exists but no content is served.
When you click Publish site, the site becomes live immediately at its URL.
| State | Visitors see | You see |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | 404 | Site in dashboard |
| Published | Site content | Site in dashboard |
| Suspended | Suspension notice | Site in dashboard |
Publishing
From your site's dashboard page, click Publish site in the top-right corner. The button is only shown when the site is in Draft mode.
Unpublishing
To take a published site offline, click Unpublish next to the "Visit site" button. The site immediately returns 404 to visitors. Your content and settings are preserved — you can republish at any time.
Suspension
Suspension is different from unpublishing — it's applied automatically when a paid plan is cancelled or a payment fails and you exceed the free-tier limits.
Suspended sites display a "This site is currently suspended" notice. You have a 30-day grace period to upgrade your plan before the content is permanently deleted.
See Plans & Limits for more on plan enforcement.
